About

Itaewon, designated as Seoul's first special tourist zone in 1997, is a multinational and multicultural area home to over 20,000 foreign residents. Its reputation grew in the 1980s with various international conferences, the Asian Games, and the Olympics held in Seoul, making it a popular spot for tourists. It is particularly famous for leather products, unique designer clothing, and accessories, and is a must-visit shopping and entertainment street for foreign visitors. Shopping arcades selling shoes, clothes, and bags, as well as accommodations including hotels, various restaurants, entertainment facilities, and travel agencies, are densely packed in its alleys. Additionally, the World Food Street, formed by restaurants directly operated by foreigners, offers an experience of exotic cultures and cuisines.
