About
Hongdae Street, a hangout for young people, is packed with various shops, designer brands, select shops, bookstores, cafes, and restaurants, regardless of type, including fashion, beauty, living, books, and stationery. It also boasts famous alleys such as the "Want to Walk Street" with endless busking and dance performances, the Mural Street on Wausan-ro 22-gil behind Hongik University, and Hongdae Club Street, which is connected to Sangsu Station. Visitors here don't just buy or appreciate; they readily showcase and introduce what they've created. Many vibrant art markets led by talented artists originated in Hongdae, such as the Hongdae Free Market held every Saturday at Hongik Children's Park in front of Hongik University, and the Hongdae Hope Market held on Sundays. It's an always attractive neighborhood with a commercial district that satisfies shopping, dining, performances, and exhibitions, and where youth, trends, sensibility, and dynamism lurk everywhere. During the day, colorful shops display their unique personalities, and the deep, illuminated nightscape that draws people in is also why young people consistently visit and stay. Yeonnam-dong is in the direction of Donggyo-dong Samgeori from Hongik University Station Exit 3. It was once known as Yeonnam-dong Gisa Sikdang Street due to the many 24-hour driver's restaurants in the area, but now unique shops, cafes, and restaurants have taken their place. Excellent restaurants serving Korean, Chinese, Japanese, as well as Thai, Italian, and French cuisine from various countries, fill every alley. Along the lush Yeontral Park Gyeongui Line Forest Trail, intriguing shops continue to emerge. If charming shops are hidden in the alleys of Seogyo-dong, connecting Hapjeong Station, Sangsu Station, and Gwangheungchang Station around Hongik University Station, then the new hotspots extending from Hongik University Station to Yeonnam-dong and Yeonhui-dong are lined with sophisticated, trendy, and exotic shops. Start your Yeonnam-dong stroll from Hongik University Station Exit 3, walk along the Gyeongui Line Forest Park, and then turn slightly towards Donggyo-dong to reach Yeonhui-dong. Meanwhile, Gyeongui Line Book Street begins at Hongik University Station Exit 7, and following the path leads to Sinchon Station on Subway Line 2. The section from Gyeongui Line Book Street to Sanullim Theater has a park, and various shops selling books, stationery, and small items line both sides of the road around it. A unique way to enjoy the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail and Gyeongui Line Book Street area is to ride Seoul Bike Ttareungi. For reference, bicycle rental stations are located at Hongik University Station Exits 2, 3, 6, and 8.
